Yaqut al-Hamawi is regarded as one of the most distinguished traveler-scholars and geographers of his time, possessing profound expertise across various disciplines. His important work, *Mu'jam al-Buldan* (Dictionary of Countries), stands as a cornerstone among geographical and historical primary sources. Within this encyclopedia, the author preserved a wealth of historical data, including accounts and narratives, while providing a distinctive intellectual framework through his rigorous analysis, interpretation, and commentary. Furthermore, al-Hamawi demonstrated exceptional prowess in synthesizing archaeological geography with historical inquiry. He was characterized by a meticulous approach to handling the reports and narratives he encountered, employing the methodology of a seasoned historian. His scholarly rigor is evident in his critical evaluation of narratives—questioning their authenticity, weighing conflicting accounts, and conducting comparative analyses. Such efforts were aimed at rectifying historical inaccuracies and situating these accounts within their proper scientific context.
