Legal measures to combat corruption in public office and their role in protecting societal security

Corruption, as a crime, is closely linked to anti-social phenomena such as (organized crime, the shadow economy, and terrorism) because corruption feeds on and is fed by these phenomena. The growth of corruption crimes and the impunity of corrupt individuals leads to a lack of trust among citizens in state institutions, which causes political instability, increased social tension, and a readiness for people to participate in mass riots. Thus, corruption poses a threat to various subsystems of societal security (political, economic, and social). Therefore, achieving community security is the gateway to achieving social security; that is, ensuring the security of individuals is essential for the stability of society. This will only be achieved if the individual feels that he lives in a society governed by integrity and equality. Any action that undermines these principles will cast a shadow on the entire society.
