Abstract
At the present time learning both Arabic and English is essential for Persian speakers but one of the problems that Persian learners of both Arabic and English face is recognition and writing of what they here when words are pronounced by speakers. This article examines issues such as consonants and vowels, syllable structure, redundant letters, homophones, and similarities or differences between pronunciation and spelling of the letters so that we can answer this question: which of the two languages do Persian learners find easier in regards to recognition and spelling of words. After doing a field comparison of 15 Arabic and 15 English learners, the results indicate that Persian speakers are twice more successful in recognition and writing of Arabic letters in comparison with English letters. In English, there should be more focus on spelling of the words, while in Arabic, recognition of the letters and listening skill should be enhanced.
