Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to examine the relationship between economic conditions and conspicuous consumption within the family. A non-proportional stratified sampling method was used to select a sample of (384) families from the city center of Erbil. Data were collected through field questionnaires, and descriptive and analytical methods were applied in data analysis. The results showed conspicuous consumption is high. The study showed a strong relationship between economic dimensions and conspicuous consumption. Economic factors have a significant impact on conspicuous consumption behaviour. Economic dimensions such as type of occupation and family income are the strongest predictors, highlighting the role of financial capacity in shaping conspicuous consumption. Variables such as level of education and type of occupation have been shown to be strong motivators of conspicuous consumption behaviour. Based on the results of the study, several recommendations have been made to improve the pattern of economic relationships through of conspicuous consumption within the family.
