The Concept of "thoughts" (Khwatir) between Negation and Positivity in Sufism

The concept of "thoughts" (Khwatir) is one of the important Sufi concepts that fall within the cognitive frameworks on which the spiritual behavior system is based on all its different dimensions. It is a system that is based on theoretical and practical foundations in the Sufi system, in which aesthetic meanings are revealed according to what is known as the Sufi experience, which is defined by absolute will and the pursuit of the goal that the disciple seeks to break through the barriers of obstacles that hinder him from achieving the desired goal with a high level of determination. The Sufi and mystics' work is to observe these heart inclinations, both positive and negative, in order to purify the heart and investigate its effect on spiritual and intellectual behavior, from which one can achieve profound meanings. Furthermore, it is important to follow the inputs and outputs that result from them, and how to control the soaring imagination when they occur. Therefore, the Sufi resorts to what is known as "spiritual struggles" and "psychological exercises" in which the darkness clouds and the veil of obscurity that hinder the disciple from seeing the kingdom of God in all its glory become unveiled. As such, an analysis of the concept of "thoughts" (Khwatir) and its meaning in language and terminology is proposed, providing a comprehensive view of the concept and its different types.
