The Philosophical Vision in the Works of Dr Raad Sadiq Al-Hilli

Abstract

Philosophy is misunderstood; many people perceive it as a futile intellectual exercise, while it draws from a sacred source represented by the principle of rationality. The texts we read or possess, which we try to grasp whenever something new comes into our hands, no longer possess their power and effectiveness. They describe someone's suffering or exaggerate in describing beauty, but they no longer leave a shining impact. They are filled with excessive metaphors and comparisons without soul. Instead, they derive their glory from the living knowledge they contain, keeping up with reality, or rather, the amount of philosophy dissolved within the text.

If presentation always touches the essence and life of humans, philosophy presents it in a deeper and different form. Philosophers are revered not because they provide answers, but because they pose questions. The most beautiful questions are those that have open endings or multiple answers. The important thing is that, in the end, they all aim to engage the mind, free the tongue, and refrain from delving into repetitive daily life.

It is unfortunate to witness someone babbling and stumbling in their speech, being called as someone who is “philosophising”, a repugnant comparison between rambling and philosophy. Philosophy is a blessed matter that God has bestowed upon humans to be coupled with their intellect. It calls for contemplation, reflection, analysis, and deep awareness. Literary reality has produced numerous philosophical minds in its various stages, proving their ability to simulate and dissolve intellectual reality within the literary framework in a reasonable and convincing manner. One of those minds is Dr. Raad Sadiq Al-Hilli, especially in his books "By accident" and "Aesopus, the Oppressed philosopher."
