Extension and Contraction in Qur'anic Al-Bayan Verses: A Discourse Analytical Study

Abstract

In this research, we attempt to explore a collection of Quranic verses and the possibility of establishing a comprehensive understanding through the Quran itself, away from the later textual interpretations that have been analyzed and assigned comprehensive dimensions based on specific linguistic approaches, specific mechanisms, and analytical studies in linguistic data.

This Quranic foundation is based on the idea of the Quranic text's expansiveness and inclusivity, encompassing all aspects of life, including scientific, medical, astronomical, and political aspects. If this is realized, it will establish a solid intellectual framework to support a broad comprehensive understanding of the Quranic text. It does not concern us whether the researcher achieves this comprehensive interpretation, what matters is that there are numerous Quranic verses that establish the issue of the Quran's expansiveness and inclusivity. Our task then is to strive to discover these ideas through specific methodologies and mechanisms.

What we need to do now is a detailed analytical study of selected Quranic texts that represent Quranic inclusivity through semantic linguistic approaches, with the purpose of reaching evidence of this expansiveness, narrowness, or refuting it.
