Digital awareness and its role in creating false societal symbols (A field study at Diyala University)

This research aims to measure the level of digital awareness among students at Diyala University, identify the dimensions of this awareness, and clarify the most prominent manifestations of false societal symbols and the mechanisms of their creation. This research is a descriptive analytical study that adopted the social survey method for a purposive sample of (150) respondents from the University of Diyala. It also worked on building a scale (Digital Awareness and the Creation of False Societal Symbols) which consists of (36) items distributed equally across six dimensions, after subjecting it to statistical tests that contribute to verifying the credibility of the measurement for which it was designed. The research reached several results, including: that there are statistically significant differences between the respondents' responses on the dimensions of the scale of digital awareness and the creation of false societal symbols, and that the general level of digital awareness among the research sample appeared to be (moderate), as the level of digital awareness among the respondents appeared to be (moderate) in the cognitive, skill-based, and affective dimensions. The ethical and critical dimensions, and the level of digital awareness, have emerged in a (high) way in the value dimension
