Publication Guidelines

Lark Journal for Philosophy, Linguistics, and Social Sciences is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal issued by the College of Arts, University of Wasit. It focuses on unpublished scientific research in the fields of philosophy, linguistics, and social sciences.

Publication Requirements:

  • The journal publishes original scientific research in the fields of philosophy, linguistics, and social sciences, in either Arabic or English.
  • The research must not have been previously published or submitted for publication in another journal. The author must commit to not submitting it elsewhere until an appropriate decision is made.
  • The research must not be part of a published book.
  • Once accepted for publication in Lark Journal, the research or parts of it cannot be published elsewhere without written permission from the editor-in-chief.
  • The author agrees to transfer all publication rights to the journal. If the journal wishes to republish the research, it must obtain the author's written consent.
  • The author must disclose all sources of support for the research.
  • Submitted manuscripts will not be returned, whether they are published or not.
  • The following publishing guidelines must be followed:
    • The research title must be provided in both English and Arabic, as well as the abstract in both languages. The author’s details and email address should be added in both Arabic and English, along with the keywords in both languages.
    • A list of references should be included in both Arabic and English.
    • Citations in the text should follow the format: (Author's last name, year of publication, page number), according to the APA style, with no footnote citations.
    • Authors are encouraged to cite research published in Lark Journal, including their own previously published work, or in journals such as Wasit Journal of Humanities and College of Education for Human Sciences. The DOI of the referenced research must be included in the reference list. Example:

Manuscript Requirements:

  • The research should not exceed 20 pages (A4 size). Each additional page incurs a fee of 2,000 Iraqi dinars.
  • The research should include: a title in Arabic and English, an abstract in both languages (about 200 words each), keywords related to the specific field in both languages, and a brief biography of the author(s).
  • The author's name and current address should appear immediately after the research title in both Arabic and English.
  • The research should be typed in Times New Roman, size 14 for the text, single-sided, with a 5-space gap between lines.
  • The journal recommends that the research be structured as follows:
    • Introduction: Theoretical framework, incorporating previous studies without a separate heading.
    • Research Problem, Objectives, Questions, or Hypotheses.
    • Importance of the Study.
    • Study Limitations (if applicable).
    • Definitions of Terms.
    • Study Procedures: Includes the population and sample, study tools, tool reliability and validity, study instructions, and methodology.
    • Presentation of Results.
    • Discussion of Results.
    • Conclusions and Recommendations.
  • Graphs and charts should be integrated into the text, numbered sequentially, with titles and explanatory notes beneath them.
  • Tables should be numbered sequentially within the text, with titles above and explanatory notes below.
  • Margins should be set to 1.5 cm on all sides.
  • Footnotes, if necessary, should be placed at the bottom of the page.
  • References within the text should follow the APA documentation style.
  • The reference list should be alphabetically ordered according to the author's surname, in APA style. Example:
    • Book: Al-Khoujli, Ahmed. (2004). Principles of Solid State Physics, 2nd ed. Khartoum: Ezza Publishing.
    • Journal Article: Saadallah, Khalid and Salman, Mohammed. (2004). "The Future of Higher Education in the Arab World," Journal of Educational and Psychological Sciences, University of Bahrain, 5(1), 33-56.
    • Book Chapter: Al-Salama, Mahmoud. (2004). "The Impact of Aggressive TV Programs on Children’s Behavior." In Salem Al-Mahmoud (Ed.), Television and Children (pp. 123-146). Amman: Dar Al-Maseerah.
    • Conference Paper: Awwad, Mohammed. (2005). "An Analytical Study of the Impact of the Stock Market on the National Economy." Paper presented at the National Economy in the 21st Century conference, University of Sharjah, October 14-15, 2005.
    • Thesis or Dissertation: Bishara, Moufaq. (2003). The Effect of a Higher-Order Thinking Skills Program on Developing Critical and Creative Thinking among Tenth Grade Students. Unpublished Ph.D. dissertation, Yarmouk University, Jordan.

Page numbers should be cited in the text when quoting, and footnotes should be used sparingly, only when absolutely necessary, indicated by numbers or asterisks.

Author Notes:

  1. The author must submit an electronic copy of the research written in Microsoft Word. An electronic version is sufficient.
  2. The author should include their biography in Arabic and English, current work address, academic rank, and major research contributions.
  3. A letter of submission.
  4. A publication agreement.
  5. Publication fees of 110,000 Iraqi dinars for local researchers and $100 USD for international researchers must be paid through the following methods:

  6. Research submitted with machine-translated abstracts in English will be disregarded.
