Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of digital algorithms on reshaping news decision-making within media institutions by examining the shift in centers of authority from the editor-in-chief to the digital platforms manager. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach supported by a case study, employing content analysis, digital engagement analysis, and editorial gap analysis as its main tools. The findings reveal that the official website still reflects a traditional editorial logic in selecting and prioritizing news, while algorithms on digital platforms such as Facebook and YouTube play a decisive role in determining the reach and dissemination of news content. The study also identifies a clear gap between editorial decisions and algorithmic decisions, indicating a relative shift of power toward algorithms in the distribution stage. The research concludes that news decision-making in the digital environment has become an interactive outcome between humans and algorithms, with a relative dominance of algorithmic logic in shaping the final impact, reflecting a structural transformation in the contemporary media system.
