This study aims to analyze the hydrological characteristics of the Zamkan River basin in southeastern Sulaymaniyah Governorate. The basin lies between longitudes 45° and 46° east and latitudes 34° and 35° north. The total basin area is 2564.1 km², with the majority (2307.7 km²) located within Iranian territory and approximately 256.4 km² within Iraq.
The study focuses on the physical and chemical properties of the water in the study area using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and laboratory analysis. This study provides a detailed and robust geographic database of the basin, facilitating planning for the utilization of natural resources by government agencies and local residents, and proposing solutions to the challenges hindering the exploitation of these resources
