Educational and aesthetic dimensions of theatrical imagery in educational theater performances

Abstract

The importance of the research emerged in its contribution of knowledge and scientific understanding of the educational and aesthetic dimensions addressed by the theatrical image in educational theater. The research aims to identify the educational and aesthetic dimensions of the theatrical image in educational theater performances. The research boundaries are defined by the spatial boundary (performances presented at Wasit University, College of Fine Arts, in the school activity hall), the temporal boundary (2017/2018), and the thematic boundary (identifying the educational and aesthetic dimensions of the theatrical image in educational theater performances). The theoretical framework includes three sections: the first section is titled "Theatrical Image," the second section is "Educational and Aesthetic Dimensions," and the third section is titled "Educational Theater." The chapter concludes with the findings of the theoretical framework. The research procedures include the research population and its samples, which were selected by the researcher purposively, including one performance sample (When Blood Spoke in 2017). The researcher adopted the indicators of the theoretical framework as a tool for his research and also adopted the descriptive analytical method because it is close to the research mechanism. The research reached results, the most important of which is (the theatrical image is based on a philosophical intellectual vision adopted by the director to create harmony through the interaction and synergy of visual, auditory and kinetic elements). As for the conclusions, the educational theatrical performances relied on the diversity of literary and aesthetic sources in embodying their themes prepared to deliver the educational message, which showed the structural elements in the directorial vision in employing imagination, dreams and the reality close to the contemporary life of the citizen.
