Social polarization: a field study in the city of Baghdad

Abstract

Divisions and conflicts contribute to increasing the intensity of polarization socially, politically, religiously, media, and culturally, especially in democratic societies in which there are multiple visions, ideas, and positions, and there are supporters and opponents, in light of party pluralism and conflicts at the political level, and the multiplicity of religious movements at the religious level, and social changes and social and service problems. On the social level, Especially the lack of reliability (social and political trust between society and the political system or governments), after the expansion of the virtual public space and its ease of use by (the general public, content creators, leaders, leaders, intellectuals), this helped to polarize individuals around different social issues (religious, social). (economic, political, cultural, media), some of which may be controversial and disputed by members of Iraqi society.
