The communicator in the satellite channels and his reliance on the media coverage regulations in the provincial council elections 2023

Abstract

The communicator is considered one of the essential elements in managing media coverage, especially in the context of elections. This research aims to analyze the role of the communicator in satellite channels during the 2023 provincial council elections, and examine how it affects the implementation of the approved media regulations. The most important objectives of the research are to analyze the responsibilities of the communicator in satellite channels during the elections. To evaluate the extent to which satellite channels adhere to the approved media regulations. And to explore the impact of these regulations on media coverage of the elections. It was found that the communicator plays a vital role in ensuring that media coverage is provided objectively and transparently, by organizing media operations and communicating with stakeholders. There is variation in the extent to which satellite channels adhere to media regulations. Some channels were strictly committed to the directives, while others were less concerned with compliance. Media regulations greatly affect the quality of media coverage. Channels’ adherence to these regulations helps reduce bias and provide accurate information to the public, which enhances the integrity of the electoral process. It is clear that the communicator plays a pivotal role in achieving balance and transparency in media coverage. Therefore, communicators should receive continuous training on best practices and the latest regulations. Adherence to media regulations is essential to ensure objective and comprehensive coverage. Regulatory and supervisory bodies should work to strengthen these obligations and provide effective mechanisms to monitor channels’ compliance with them.
