The exchange rate management is one of the most important tools of economic policy because it has a wide area in achieving stability and economic growth by providing stability in the exchange rate of the currency of the concerned country, as well as its impact and influence on the money supply and then treating economic crises of a monetary nature and reducing the risks of the currency exchange rate . As for the exchange rate management in Iraq, it has gone through several stages, from fixation to linking to a basket of currencies to free float, which we are going to discuss in this research is what monetary policy achieved, especially after enjoying independence in accordance with the Central Bank of Iraq Law No. 56 of 2004 and what the free exchange rate achieved From economic gains in addition to the foreign currency auction, which had a direct impact on the stability of the Iraqi dinar exchange, as well as the decrease in inflation rates, but it is not possible to continue managing the exchange rate through the currency auction channel after the latter has exhausted its benefits in currency stability and low levels Inflation, and the search for another method that is compatible with the current conditions of the Iraqi economy.
