Cultural References and their dramatic treatments in the Iraqi theatrical text - the play Al-Sarir as an example

Abstract

Societies have customs, traditions and values ​​at different levels from one another, and these values ​​are based in their nature on the dominant social and environmental factor and are subject to historical, philosophical, religious, mythological, literary and other studies; they are formed in the works of the creator as a reflection of his culture. These tribal references for the artist or creator in general take the study of general and specific social phenomena and the mechanism of expressing them as a tool to form an implicit image in creative and artistic works. The researcher tries to encompass and grasp the foundational root of the cultural references of the Iraqi theatrical text by posing the following question: What are the cultural references and their dramatic treatments in the Iraqi theatrical text?. The researcher determined the goal of the research to identify the cultural references and the method of treating them in Youssef Al-Ani's theatrical texts.

     The text of the play " Al-Sarir " by the Iraqi writer Yousef Al-Ani was intentionally chosen as a model for the research sample, and it was analyzed according to the descriptive method. The researcher reached a number of results through analyzing the research sample model, the most prominent of which are: that historical, philosophical, and literary studies and internal systems in the text contributed to identifying the dominant cultural references in the text of the play " Al-Sarir " and treated them based on their own system in analyzing and deconstructing the general cultural idea, and searching for the cultural reference can only be done through knowing the dominant social system in the author's era.
