The research deals with the nature of the uses of YouTube content by university students in Wasit Governorate and identifying the satisfactions they achieve from that use, especially since YouTube is of interest to the youth segment and includes extremely important and dangerous topics, and no one has ever dealt with it in terms of the sample that benefits from it, who are the students of Wasit University.
The research is one of the descriptive studies that rely on the field survey method based on the questionnaire, and the application of hypotheses derived from the theory of uses and gratifications. The research aimed to know the extent of students’ interaction with the contents of the YouTube platform, and the level of preference of university students in Wasit Governorate for it over television programmes.
The sample was chosen according to the method of available sampling or chance, and the method of intentional selection. The researcher launched the form electronically in student groups and obtained responses amounting to (412) individuals from male and female university students. The research concluded with a set of results that reveal the use The large and high rate of use of YouTube by university students, and the high concentration of use was in favor of (males) and to a lesser extent than females.
