Abstract

Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) has made a paradigm shift in the recent years by liberating Iraqi territories invaded ISIS. Western mass media try their best to defame the reputation of PMF by describing it as an affiliated para-military to Islamic Republic of Iran or calling it a militia. The researchers attempt to highlight the representation of PMF in the Arabic translation via the same media foundations; of course, to find answer of whether ST or TT versions of news are positively or negatively represented. BBC, CNN, France 24 outlets websites were selected and analyzed based on for an eclectic model of van Leeuwen’s social actor representation (2008) and Venuti's translator's invisibility via Foreignization and Domestication methods (1995/2004). The results have proved that the PMF is negatively represented in both English and Arabic Services.
