The Reinforcing and Persuasive Role of Qur’anic Verses as Precedent Phenomena in Newspaper Discourse An Analytical Study

This article explores precedent phenomena in Arab culture, focusing on the functioning of Quran verses as precedent phenomena that possess both a culturally universal and ethnically specific character. These expressions, ingrained in the collective consciousness, ensure accessible communication regardless of age or education level, eliminating significant communication barriers. As precedent statements, Quran verses are widely used in newspaper discourse, are characterized by high recognition and reproducibility, and their use has cognitive, emotional, and axiological significance. Knowledge of mythological and religious narratives is important not only within a monocultural environment but also for intercultural communication, contributing to the development of ethnocultural competence. The latter is viewed as a component of value-oriented personal behavior, encompassing linguistic, social, communicative, informational, and axiological dimensions.Thus, precedent phenomena contribute to the formation of a shared cognitive space, the convergence of behavioral models among individuals and groups, and a deeper understanding of linguistic activity in all its manifestations.
