The abstract
This research reveals the relationship between technology and distraction human psyche. The TV in this novel is not just for daily use, but also the government uses it to watch people. It’s a symbol of a tool of losing communication with themselves, a psychological distraction. Using Bolkiah’s concept as a theoretical framework to identify fragmentation of postmodernism by using postmodern and wannabe coin, the research explains how the party uses the language to control people and take Winston Smith as the protagonist affected by the telescreen and a new language, and fails in rebellion. The findings of this study demonstrate that Orwell’s vision is a critical warning. When the government controls the consciousness and subconscious, humans lose the ability of independent thought, which makes it easy to control.
