Abstract

This research examines the current status of the Arabic language in contemporary digital media and explores the relationship between Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and colloquial dialects within today’s fast-changing communication environment. Digital platforms have become highly influential in shaping linguistic preferences and communication patterns across Arab societies, raising concerns about the future of MSA amid the increasing use of local dialects.

The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach through the analysis of written, visual, and audio digital media discourse and investigates the impact of linguistic changes on Arab cultural identity.

The results show that using everyday language in media has led to a decrease in the use of formal language, known as Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), and has also affected how well people use language in media. However, the study also found that MSA can still be used effectively in digital media if there are good language and media policies in place to support it. This means that with the right support, MSA can adapt to new technology and continue to be an important part of media content.

The research recommends strengthening the role of educational and media institutions and employing modern technologies and artificial intelligence to support Arabic in the digital age.
