This research examines the concept of silent deviation in modern Arabic literature as a rhetorical and stylistic phenomenon that emerges from the unspoken dimensions of literary discourse. The study assumes that meaning in literary texts is not produced solely through explicit linguistic expression, but also through silence, omission, and implicit suggestion.
The research aims to explore how silent deviation functions as a rhetorical strategy that enriches the aesthetic and semantic structure of modern Arabic literary texts. It also investigates the mechanisms through which silence contributes to meaning-making in both poetic and narrative discourse.
The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach, relying on selected literary texts from modern Arabic poetry and narrative works. Through stylistic and textual analysis, the research highlights the ways in which techniques such as omission, symbolism, suggestiveness, and narrative gaps create spaces of silence within the text.
The findings reveal that silence in modern Arabic literature is not merely the absence of speech, but rather an intentional aesthetic strategy that expands the interpretive possibilities of the text. Silent deviation allows the reader to participate actively in constructing meaning, thereby transforming the reading process into an interactive experience.
Furthermore, the research demonstrates that this phenomenon reflects a broader transformation in modern literary discourse, where ambiguity, openness, and multiplicity of meanings become essential characteristics of artistic expression. The study concludes that silent deviation represents an important dimension of modern Arabic literary aesthetics, contributing significantly to the renewal of expressive forms in contemporary literature.
