Hierarchical Organization of Associative Chains in Conditions of Limited Textual Space (Based on Works of Short Literary Genres)

This article examines the problem of the organization of associative chains of words in literary texts of short-form genres in Russian literature. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to systematize the mechanisms for constructing semantic connections under conditions of limited textual space. The primary aim of the research is to identify the hierarchical structure of associative chains and to determine their functional significance in the creation of artistic imagery.
The article outlines the theoretical foundations of associative linguistics, analyzes the principles governing the formation of lexical associations in short-form genres, and investigates the typology of associative connections. The methodology of the study is based on an integrated approach that includes linguostylistic analysis, psycholinguistic methods of studying associations, and statistical methods of data processing.
The research material consists of works of Russian literature of the 19th–21st centuries in the genres of the short story, novella, and lyrical miniature. The findings of the study make it possible to distinguish three hierarchical levels of associative chains and to determine their role in shaping the ideological and artistic content of short-form literary works.
