Abstract) )
The poet Lamia Abbas Amara championed the voice of the marginalized female, enriching the cultural landscape with a distinctive discourse that ventured into the production of a liberated masculine discourse. This rhetoric emerged from a deeply rooted cultural consciousness within the poet, through which she articulated her needs and physical desires for the "Other" with explicit candor rather than mere allusion.
By adopting such an overt stance, Amara entered—and indeed transcended—the spheres of social and cultural masculinity, assuming a masculinized persona within her poetic works. She successfully crafted unique discursive representations that broke away from the monotonous and conventional tropes of the era, elevating her work above prevailing poetic norms. This shift was supported by a deliberate cultural awareness seeking non-arbitrary significations for the representations in her poetry, thereby challenging the cultural frameworks and societal reservations traditionally imposed upon the female nature.
The poet Lamia Abbas Amara rebelled against patriarchal hegemony, elevating her once-prohibited discourse to a dominant position within her poetic works. In doing so, she destabilized prevailing cultural values and sought to dismantle traditional constraints by asserting the "masculine ego" in her poetry. By adopting a masculine rhetorical mode in several of her poems, she positioned herself as the active female seeker—the lover in pursuit of the male—rather than the passive beloved subjected to male authority. Consequently, she contributed to feminist theory by establishing a linguistic presence that displaces the masculine center, founding a distinct discourse that openly proclaims female desire and pleasure.
