Fear of natural disasters in ancient Egyptian texts

This research examines the study of fear of natural disasters in ancient Egyptian texts, focusing on the fear of the Nile flood as one of the most important challenges faced by the ancient Egyptians. The research reviews the manifestations of this fear in two main aspects: fear of flood recession and delay leading to famines and droughts, and fear of the destructive power of floods causing drowning and destruction. The research relies on analyzing hieroglyphic texts from various sources such as the Famine Stela, Hymns to the Nile, Pyramid Texts, and Coffin Texts, revealing the psychological, religious, and social dimensions of fear among the ancient Egyptians and how this fear shaped their religious systems and social practices. The research demonstrates that natural disasters, particularly Nile flood fluctuations, represented a fundamental concern in the collective consciousness of the ancient Egyptians and contributed to shaping their civilization and culture
