The Image of the Arab in Hebrew Literature for Young Adults – A Reading of the Novel “Nadia” by Kalila Ron Feder

This research aims to examine the portrayal of Arabs as depicted in Hebrew literature for young adults in the novel "Nadia" by the Hebrew author "Kalela Ron Feder". Feder is one of the Hebrew writers who directly addresses the topic behind the wall, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and its reflections on Israeli society in general and Arab society in particular. The research is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses "Young Adult Literature", its history, characteristics, and target audience. The second chapter presents the "Biography of the Author", with a brief overview of the novel and the portrayal of Arabs in Hebrew literature. The third chapter presents the portrayal of Arabs in the novel "Nadia". The researcher concludes that the author intended to place a protagonist from behind the wall to live in Israeli society, illustrating the significant challenges any Arab individual in Israel might face, which carries various implications. The novel narrates an intriguing story, where the mind rebels against the difficulties of Israeli society despite the lack of acceptance from others, prompting the reader to reflect on the background of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
