في روايته" ابناء وعشاق, يهدف الكاتب الانكليزي دي اتش لورنس(D.H.Lawrence) الى اجراء تغيرات ادائية وتشريعية لتمكين المراءة في تحقيق اهدافها. فهو يتبنى مشروعا يرفض القالب النمطي الفيكتوري للمراءة—وهو الزوجة. مشروعا يمثل نقلة نوعية في مجال الحرية الاجتماعية للمراءة والذي من شانه يساعدها في التخلص من القيود الاجتماعية والثقافية السائدة في تلك الفترة. يكتسب مشروع لورنس قوته من جراءة شخصياته النسائية. فقد تم توظيفهن بالطريقة التي تؤجج الحركة النسوية البريطانية في ذالك الوقت للمطالبة بحقوقهن.
