Khanaqin city, a study in Natural and Human Geography

Abstract

Studying any City in the world specially its natural, humanitarian geographic point of view has a great importance to show its importance and its geographical position. Studying the terrain of the mentioned area (city) through incoming types of the terrain and Studying the land, agricultural importance of the city also Studying the climate and water resources of it because it has a great effects in the life of the population in different ways . It is an important to mention the human features of khanaqin city such as population, density and distribution of population and showing the influential factors which of tests this distribution. We know that khanaqin represents a cultural and economic phenomenon which affect the surrounded areas and other areas. Khanaqin is an ancient city with a great history and it is a transit city that joins Iraq with Iran. Khanaqin has an important geographic and strategic position for Iraq and has a great economic resource which is oil , and the first oil refinery was founded in this city in 1927. Beside many great historical events happened in this city in old times as it is mentioned in this research, the city represents an important transit road to pilgrims whom visit the holly shrines coming from Iran and other countries, so the city was called khurarsan gate.
