The current research is concerned with The Visual Formulations of Image in Contemporary Magazines’ Covers Designs. It deals with the image as an effective aesthetic expression, which can document events and moments. The image is one of the typographic elements that used in the design of the magazines’ covers with participation of the rest of the other elements such as letters and titles and joints and distances, as well as aesthetic value. The importance of image emerged after the digital technology as a tool through which the designer can deal with different forms and in many ways. The image was associated as a typographical element with its influential abilities and meanings that it carried to the reader. The problem of the current research deals with the topic of the Visual Formulations of Image in Contemporary Magazines’ Covers Designs through answering the following question:
- What are the visual formulations of the image in contemporary magazine cover designs?
The current research has aimed, namely, knowing the visual formulations of the image in the contemporary magazine covers. It was determined by spatial delimitations representing three countries (America - France - India) and time delimitations between the years 2000 - 2014. Then the most important terms were identified (formulation - images - magazine covers). While the theoretical framework consisting of two sections. The first section was specialized in the effectiveness of the image in printmaking contemporary design. The second section was concerned with the study of image in the contemporary magazine covers. On the other hand, the samples of the research were selected and it reached (4) magazines, with two samples per magazine. The research sample was chosen according to the following: (1) It covers the time delimitations of the study clearly. (2) The existence of a clear diversity of magazine covers between artistic and political magazines. (3) The researcher took the opinions of some experienced and specialized. Some results of this study were:
1 - The visual formulations of the image in the designs of the research samples, include, on the effectiveness of the idea and the presence of the semantic effect, within the context of the consumption of contemporary design.
- The visual formulations of the image relate to the designed structures that simulates the social environment, based on the expressive motives of the design constructs of magazine covers.
