The impact of spatial paradox on the formation of the alienated personality (in the Arabic novel)

This study addresses spatial paradox, as it is one of the deep narrative structures that contribute to building and shaping the alienated character in the contemporary Arabic novel. The place does not serve an inclusive function for the character, but rather turns into a hostile, exclusionary, and contradictory space that increases the depth of the character's feeling of alienation and loss of belonging. Here we find that the place will not be a haven for the character or identity, but rather a coercive element that reflects the incompatibility of the relationship between the self and the social environment. The novels included in the study also reveal that spatial paradox arises from the tension between the place that is supposed to be a homeland and the place in which exclusion and marginalization are practiced, which leads to the fragmentation of the consciousness of the receiving character and the division of his affiliations.
