The Impact of the Cultural Context in Determining the Meaning of Religious Vocabulary Related to Women between the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Holy Qur’an the word Divorce as a Model

Abstract

Religious translation is distinguished by its use of specialized lexical terms. For example, the presence of such distinctive words as "Islam", "faith", "charity", "pilgrimage", "heaven", "hell", “Divorce” or the names and attributes of God such as “God,” “God” and “Rahman,” as well as the names of religious figures such as “Prophet Muhammad” and “Prophet Ibrahim,” and others. Its translation often faces many problems. And often we find partial agreement or clear difference in its translation. This research sheds light on the impact of the cultural context in determining the meaning of the word divorce, as it is more prejudicial to women in the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Holy Qur’an.
