Abstract

The study considers translation theory as a framework through which many translations of the meaning of the Holy Qur’an were evaluated analytically. The study also presents Quranic cognitive models as a framework or a general theoretical model in order to better understand the Quranic discourse. The study also examines the effect of rhetoric on the degree of equivalence in translating the meaning of the Holy Quran. The detailed model details of the problems of translation of the Qur'an and the evaluation of several selected translations of the meaning of the Qur'an are then discussed. The study provides evidence that translating the meaning of the Qur'an constitutes a major area of difficulty for translators and interpreters. I also reached a conclusion that proves the failure of the concept of equivalence, as the researcher reviews the translation of some selected Qur'anic words that have no exact lexical equivalent, but rather "non-literal lexical equivalent" in the Hebrew language. For Muslims, the Holy Qur’an is the word of God and contains worship and instructions full of morphological and figurative methods that represent the forms of speech.
