Preserving identity has become the challenge most posed in the era of open skies, which is crowded with satellites that carry hundreds of TV channels from all over the world, with its different effects that shape the thought and conscience of young people alike. The sense of danger requires a search for identity and belonging so that we do not face conflict The researcher found that cultural programs have a presence on Arab satellite channels that is less than the spread of other types of programs despite their role in shaping belonging to the homeland and pride in national identity. The research problem is manifested in the following main questions (what is the exposure of university youth to cultural programs in Arab satellite channels?) and branching It has a number of sub-questions, and the importance of the research comes. Since belonging to the homeland is a necessity in building the personality of each individual, it is necessary to confirm the role of the media in facing the negative effects that can lead to weak belonging among members of society. Abstract
With the spread of the technological revolution in the world, and with the development of means of communication, internet networks and satellite channels, the world has turned into a small global village linked by one communications network via satellite, and with increased competition between satellite channels to attract young people, through many social, cultural, scientific and entertainment programs directed to society Especially young people of various ages
In order to preserve the cultural and civilizational identity, the challenge before us has become strongly in the era of the open skies that are packed with satellites that carry hundreds of TV channels from all over the world, with its various effects that constitute the thought and conscience of young people alike. We are not subject to conflict.
Modern communication and media technology has changed the environment in which our youth live from that which was long ago. If these means changed our lifestyle, our transition, our free time and our relationships with family and friends, then how will the new generations who will live in an environment of more advanced information means not to be measured by our present? And what will happen to the peculiarities and distinct identities in the way we think today, and from here we find that Arab channels play a major role in strengthening the national spirit of youth
Key words: - TV art - Patriotic spirit - Belonging to the homeland
The research reached a number of results, including: -
1-The diversity of desires to watch the programs has contributed to determining the types of topics preferred by students in particular and society in general, which contributed to forming a culture of tolerance and love among individuals.
2-The lack of balance in some satellite channels in presenting the views of the scholars increases their intensity and exacerbation.
3- Through the results of the questionnaire analysis, it was found that cultural programs reflect reality in a disparate manner, which negatively affects the respondents' sense of belonging.
