This study aims to trace the binary of center and margin in a contemporary Kuwaiti novel, "Impact That Made No Sound" by Bothayna AlEssa, which explores several binaries including center/margin and self/other, represented by the clash between Western and Arab civilizations. The protagonist of the novel is a Kuwaiti student studying in Sweden, who encounters clashes with customs, traditions, and a different cultural advancement from what exists in her country. On one hand, the novel addresses an important issue in Kuwait, which is identity, and the marginalization suffered by the "stateless" community, who are excluded by the center by depriving them of their original identity.
