Nothingness and Existence in the philosophy of Ibn Rushed

Abstract

    This research is not restricted to the limits of the nature of nothingness and its correlation with existence in the philosophy of Ibn Rushd, but rather searches for the common elements between the causes of existence in order to confirm their unity and purpose in the circle of creation and the world. I will also deal with the issue of potentiality and creation and its relationship to the principle of the becoming of nothingness and the correlation of  existence. Ibn Rushd focuses particularly on this aspect, and then tries to show the authenticity of existence through the potentiality of the intentionality of nothingness and its necessity in the circle of cosmic causation. If Ibn Rushd had explained the interpretation of the transformations of matter and form, he added the third principle which will achieve balance, harmony, and correlation between creation and potential. And if Aristotle presents the idea of ​​nothingness on the basis that there is nothing out of nothing, there is no absolute nothingness called non-existence, then we will find this basis expanded upon by Ibn Rushd. He tried to prove the necessity of nothingness as a principle that goes along with existence and the becoming of  eternal potentiality. Especially that he added something new in this field. Additionally, it was an attempt by him to confirm creation and existence through the idea of ​​nothingness, because the reality of creation and the way to know it requires the study of nothingness as an important and basic principle that benefits the strength and foundation of a mechanism for understanding the causes of existence, in other words, we will see an explanation for most aspects of the formation of bodies, attendants and objects by means of the principle of nothingness. Therefore, the images of nothingness for him constituted a proposition worthy of research, as it provoked a wide discussion among philosophers and thinkers, which reflects the great importance that this topic occupied. Therefore, we aim in this research to present a mechanism for understanding the images that characterize the non-existence as it accompanies and dialogues with existence according to the principle of cosmic integration and the realization of the entity that Ibn Rushd interpreted. The importance of this research lies in an attempt to shed light on the authenticity of nothingness in its possible forms that are colored by the colors of the already realized existence, which express the originality of Ibn Rushd in raising the issues of philosophy and the problems of existence.
