Geographical Analysis of Medical waste at the health Institutes in the city of Kut

Abstract

The research discusses the geographical analysis of solid medical waste in hospitals in the city of Kut and estimate quantities (clinical and non-clinical) and the methods of treatment, as the study showed that hospitals production rate of medical waste ranged (1.7-2.5 kg / bed / day( , as well as the lack of most of the hospitals in Kut to the organized application of the concept of solid waste management and the lack of awareness among workers in the field of medical waste. Also all waste incinerators in an old hospital, and the ashes of incineration contains a proportion of toxic heavy metals and pathogens poses within the household waste in Landfilling which makes a large negative impact on Geographic environment in terms of pollution and disease transmission.
