تتم ممارسة السلطة من خلال استخدام الجوانب الإيمائية المختلفة التي تتفاعل وتؤكد المعنى الإيمائي. تعرض هذه الورقة أنواع علاقات القوة المتداخلة بين الخطاب السياسي والجوانب الإيمائية ومعانيها وتفسيراتها. مشكلة البحث تتلخص بكون النصوص لفظية في الأساس، وان الكلام يتم تصويره من خلال الإيماءات والوضعيات، وتعبيرات الوجه، وحركات الجسم، إلى حد أنه لا يمكن فهمه بشكل صحيح دون الرجوع إلى هذه السمات غير اللفظية. ويهدف إلى التحقيق في أنواع علاقات السلطة بين أوباما والمضيف جاي لينو والتي تم تحديدها من خلال الإيماءات والمواقف المؤطرة في السياقات السياسية. تتضمن العينة مقابلتين مع باراك أوباما في برنامج The Tonight Show مع جاي لينو خلال الأعوام (2009-2011). تم إجراء التحليل من خلال …… ويخلص المقال إلى أن أوباما، كسياسي، يمارس علاقة قوة غير متكافئة مع المضيف على الرغم من البيئة غير السياسية ويؤطر جوانبه الإيمائية لتحقيق أيديولوجياته السياسية.
