Abstract

The concept of imprisonment is associated with injustice, politics, and the restrictions imposed by an authoritarian society on individuals. As an intellectual construct, imprisonment relates to all aspects of life, defined by the time and place determined by the nature of society. It stems from the human desire for freedom in the face of political, intellectual, and social constraints. The present research consists of four chapters. The first chapter, "The Methodological Framework," outlines the research problem, which is centered around the following question: What are the intellectual foundations of imprisonment in Arab theatrical texts? The significance of the research lies in its contribution to knowledge in the field of theater in general and Arab theater in particular, benefiting students of fine arts institutes and colleges, as well as critics and professionals in the theatrical arts. The second chapter, "The Theoretical Framework," consists of two sections. The first focuses on understanding prison literature, its concept, and its significance. The second section explores the intellectual foundations of imprisonment in theatrical texts. The chapter concludes with key indicators drawn from the theoretical framework. The third chapter, "Research Procedures," covers the research community, sample, tools, methodology, and the analysis of the sample. The research concludes with the fourth chapter, which presents the results, conclusions, suggestions, recommendations, and the list of references.
