Abstract

This research is dedicated to analyzing the criticism of N. A. Dobrolyubov and examining his critical approach. Dobrolyubov founded his realistic criticism on a profound understanding of life and literature. His criticism was objective and independent, significantly influencing the development of Russian literature. Dobrolyubov believed that criticism should be based on facts and objective evaluation. He analyzed literary works in terms of their intellectual content, artistic characteristics, and social functions. Dobrolyubov asserted that literature should be active and aimed at societal development, and he criticized works that, in his view, did not reflect the life of society or contribute to its progress. His realistic criticism had a major impact on the development of Russian literature, contributing to the formation of realism in Russian literature as well as the development of social thought in Russia. According to him, realistic criticism is based on the realistic analysis of literary works, rather than the subjective impressions of the critic.
