Abstract

The colors could play an important role in communication between people. They not only express themselves, but are also provided with the cultural characteristics of each nation. In other words, colors in different languages ​​and cultures can convey different associative meanings, and the people from different cultures react to colors in different ways. The aim of this study is to investigate the translation of color idioms between Arabic and Spanish, especially; to what extent color idioms are preserved, lost or distorted? In addition, the study tend to explore the different strategies applied in translation and discover the similarities and differences between their meanings in both Arabic and Spanish languages. We mainly focus on the most common colors: black, white, yellow, red, green and blue.
